26th ANNUAL SERGG™ MEETING

ACCOMMODATIONS

A block rooms has been reserved at the Francis Marion Hotel in Charleston, South Carolina for Wednesday through Saturday, July 30-August 2, 2008, to accommodate our meeting.  You will need to guarantee your room reservation for any arrival after 4:00 p.m.  We have been given a group rate of $129.00 for a SINGLE or a DOUBLE.  Please make your own room arrangements in order to keep your personal expenses at a minimum.  Check-in time is 4:00 p.m. and check-out is Noon.  Attendees arriving before check-in time will be accommodated as rooms become available.  Valet parking is available at a $17 per day charge that will be automatically charged to your room bill or self-parking is available in the City Garage located next door to the hotel.  The charge is $12 per 24 hour period and is payable to the garage attendant in cash.

The Francis Marion Hotel is located at 387 King Street, Charleston, SC  29403.  Located in the heart of historic Charleston, the Francis Marion Hotel was the largest and grandest in the Carolinas when it opened in 1924.  Named for General Francis Marion, the “Swamp Fox” of the American Revolution, the Francis Marion Hotel re-opened in 1996 after an extensive restoration.  You may make your reservations by calling the hotel directly at (843)722-0600.  Be sure to request the SERGG group rate. The block of rooms will be held until JUNE 30, 2008. Please reserve your room IMMEDIATELY in order to assure accommodation.  After this date, the hotel will release the rooms for general sale.

TRANSPORATION

If you are flying: 
The Francis Marion Hotel is located approximately 11 miles from the Charleston International Airport (CHS) which is serviced by AirTran, American, Continental, Delta, Northwest and US Airways.  Traveling from the airport, exit the airport on International Drive and follow the signs for I-526 to Mt. Pleasant.  From I-536 follow the signs for I-26 East to Charleston.  Travel on I-26 to the end (Meeting Street Exit).  Turn right onto Meeting Street. Stay on Meeting Street in the right hand lane for .6 miles.  Pass the Charleston Visitor’s Center and turn right at the light, which is John Street.  Take John Street one block to King Street and turn left on King Street.  The Francis Marion Hotel is on the right.

Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum
The 888-foot aircraft carrier Yorktown is the flagship of the Patriots Point battle group.  Destroyer Laffey, The Coast Guard cutter Ingham and the submarine Clamagore are also on display along with 25 aircraft Congressional Medal of Honor Museum and Cold War Submarine memorial.

Drayton Hall
The oldest preserved plantation house in America open to the public.  After 2 great wars, 7 generations, and numerous hurricanes and earthquakes, the main house (c. 1738) remains in nearly original condition.
